Back again is this before young lady!
My blog couldn’t be more honored to again write about Ms. Douglas.
Not only is this lovely young lady voted as one of the world’s most memorable women of this year, but she is almost recognized as a Women of the Year by Essence Magazine (as well as World Champion in the Summer 2012 Olympics, among many other exuberant titles). Which, while we’re on the headline of “Essence,” is the popular U.S magazine that covered and published a teaser of what’s to come within their December issue for this last month of the year Twenty-Twelve.
America’s new sweetheart shines in a Notte by Marchesa black-and-gold frock with a head full of flowing locks (no bad hair day here) and one of her two gold medals for the glossy’s annual “Women Of The Year” issue.
Check out Gabby’s stunning cover below and a second sensational cover featuring fellow Olympians Allyson Felix, Carmelita Jeter and Sanya Richards-Ross. You can pickup a copy of the issue when it hits newsstands on November 9.
“In my dreams I didn’t think about how many shows I would be on and how many people would tweet me…it’s so cool!” –Gabrielle DouglasESSENCE is proud to honor extraordinary Black women each month, and in this issue it features its “2012 Women of the Year” — including Gabrielle Douglas, First Lady Michelle Obama, Robin Roberts and more! In the cover story Gabby Takes Flight, see what life has been like for “America’s Sweetheart” after making Olympic history — and why she continues to steal our hearts today. Plus, ESSENCE remembers the shared triumphs (Serena’s top wins at Wimbledon, the Olympics and the U.S. Open), personal storms (Sybrina Fulton’s fight for justice for slain son Trayvon Martin) and bittersweet good-byes (to Whitney, Donna, Ms. Melodie and more) that made us cheer, grieve and strengthen our resolve.
In the cover story “Gabby Takes Flight,” the 16-year-old opens up about her life after making Olympic history. While she has already befriended the First Lady, scored a beauty campaign and landed a guest spot on “The Vampire Diaries,” we’re sure the pint-sized star will be bombarded with other fabulous opportunities. (Gabby also snagged a spot on Glamour’s “Women Of The Year” list.) Even so, she doesn’t seem jaded by her success.
The Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas ditches her slicked back ponytail for a gorgeous photoshoot spread in Essence magazine! “ESSENCE has been so welcoming,” said Gabby during the shoot. “I just wanna thank you all for having me and I love you so much.”
Her hairstylist couldn’t stop gushing over the teen. “I have the most incredible opportunity to work with someone fabulous, yes that’s Gabby Douglas,” said Ted Gibson. “Doing her hair was one of the highlights of my career because today was about making her feel the most comfortable in front of the camera.”
